irises and lilacs

Our irises are blooming like crazy right now! We went out of town for Memorial Day weekend with quite a few blossoms and today they are ten fold! :) Most of our irises are white and yellow but later we will have some deep purple ones (that are already budding)! :) I cut a bunch of them today for another bouquet. Our first bouquet from last week finally died. They are so fragrant!! I love having irises in our kitchen.
I really love how these lone white irises look in the window. So pretty.

Our lilacs are blooming as well. I Love lilacs!!!
Growing up we had a 40 foot hedge of lilacs; when it bloomed the whole front yard smelled wonderful. So the smell brings me back home and I feel like a kid again, running around barefoot playing with my dolls and drawing fairies.

The smell of lilacs also means the end of school to me, since they bloom in June, and even though our kids don't go to public school it still makes me excited! I guess its the idea of summer being just around the corner. Either way the smell of lilacs is one of The Best Smells!!  (The best smell being new baby smell.)

Hope you have a fragrant weekend as well! :)

spring has sprung

I just got back from photographing all the blooming things in my yard. OK not all are blooming but I still thought I'd share. My trees aren't nearly as flowering as my friends cherry tree.

The secrets out!

We're putting our house up for sale!

My husband and I wanted real pressure to get our home finished a ready to sell so we listed it this morning, even though we have a few things to finish up. We listed it on craigslist see it here. I even made a home tour blog check it out here.
So if you know anyone moving in the Logan Utah area looking for a 3 bdrm 2 bath home with lots of character send them our way!
Have a great day!

Back from vacation

We went to Colorado for the 4th of July and played with family! Were back now and look at what our garden surprised us with! I forgot we even planted lavender. We also had tons of ripe raspberries but those were consumed before I remembered to get a shot. Now that were back this little blog wont get neglected. I have been craving a new summer hair cut and I have more creative ideas brewing. I will share both here in my blog, and all of the other inspirations that come my way. Happy July!

Wild roses

I can't believe how lucky we are to have a huge wild rose bush bordering our property line. Lets pray the neighbors feel just as lucky, I hope they never cut it down.
The sweet smell is breathtaking.
I love summer for many reasons but especially because of this blooming beauty.
Can you smell it from there?
Not a rose but just as wild, I love dandelions. :)
Have a great day!

Summer Bounty

Good afternoon!
Look what I found in my yard...

... all round and plump and ready to pick.

Thats right, a lovely red strawberry! And there's more where that came from.

We harvested quite a few, an amazing thing because my daughter usually eats all of them before they are ripe.

Fresh strawberry's warm from the sun always taste the best!

Don't they look so pretty and tasty!

Oh and guess who's back from her trip to a museum? Isabella! Oh how I've missed her! She will be in my shop tomorrow!

Edit: Isabella is up in the shop right now!!!

EDIT(again): She has sold already! :) Wow that was fast!

And... this lovely new painting is back from that same museum all framed and hanging nicely next to my fireplace. I am unsure whether I want to sell her because she looks so nice up on my wall.

What a lovely day I had today! Hope your day was great too!

In my garden

Good morning!

Here are some photos of the pretties that are showing up in my yard as of late.

We have a pretty pink flowering crab apple in the front; I love it when it blooms. :)

Here is an angled view of our window box with brand newly planted annuals! This is something I look forward to every spring!

This is one of many many blossoms in our strawberry patch. Look! Can you see a few tiny green strawberries growing? Yippee! We have the ever bearing variety and I love eating fresh strawberries all summer!

Our myrtle ground cover is coming in so lush this year!

I love smelling the grape-y flavor these irises emit. From what I've heard from the previous owners they used to be all colors and varieties, but cross pollinated and eventually turned white.

Here are some of my favorites in the yard! Hosta! I can't wait till these beauties grow up and produce the big leaves and tall stalks of dainty blossoms.

I am unsure what variety this tree is because the city planted it in our parking strip by the road, but it blooms the prettiest little white clusters and smells lovely!

Even the weeds in my yard are beautiful! :) These weren't really in my yard; they were in the neighboring lot.

What loveliness is peeking out in your yard this spring?
Happy Wednesday!
