yo ho yo ho

My son's birthday is coming up so I thought I'd get myself back into the blogging world to share these invitations I just made. The black flags are made from stiff felt and the scull was made by carving a stamp out of a tiny apple I picked from my back yard. The back of the invitations are made from a vintage map I scanned. My favorite part is that the felt turns into a pirate flag!

I can't believe I haven't blogged for three months.
Why was I gone for three months you ask? Well I am currently four months pregnant so... lets just say my keyboard is grateful because I couldn't toss any cookies onto it if I stayed away. Please forgive me the long long break I took but seriously I wasn't doing anything too exciting. I'm feeling great now and we are super excited. We will find out the sex of the baby next week!

Paper flag banner

Today I am staying home from church with a sick boy, above is the result. I made this paper flag banner out of scrap book paper I already had purchased from the dollar store and thrift store. I love how it turned out! All I did was sew triangles together on the sewing machine and then tack it up. I had a dream last night that I was making birthday kits to sell on Etsy. They included: a paper flag banner, handmade party hats (like in this post), balloons, paper bag decorations, and toothpick cupcake toppers. Should I do it? Would they sell? Please give me feed back!

spring has sprung

I just got back from photographing all the blooming things in my yard. OK not all are blooming but I still thought I'd share. My trees aren't nearly as flowering as my friends cherry tree.

Shining sunny day

I love the weather today! See you later I'm going back outside! :)

I love these images by Mikkel Vang. They are so sweet and serene. Now I want to have a tea party in an apple orchard, anyone with me on that one?

Love this {Crayon storage}

I just love this idea of storing and sorting your crayons by color! My kids are always ripping off the papers too. This mini loaf pan is so cute too! One of my favorite things to do is to use something for some purpose other that what it was invented for. Like in my living room on my coffee table I have a vintage baking pan I use as a tray for books and magazines.

Chocolaty Easter nests

One of the other things Valerie and I made were these yummy chocolaty Easter nests. SUPER easy to make! Start by coating chow mein noodles with melted milk chocolate. You scoop a little bit out onto wax paper, add candy eggs & there you go!

Home made marshmallow Peeps

My good friend Valerie came over to make Easter treats with me the other day. One of the many things we made were home made marshmallow Peeps.
They didn't turn out looking at all like Peeps though. In fact we couldn't stop giggling because they looked more like marshmallow poops.

Peeps or poops you decide! He he he.
:)
While we cooked we listened to our current favorite music...
...And while the mixer was beating the marshmallow for 12 min. (yeah I know 12 min.!!) Of course we spent that time taking pictures! Valerie blogged about it too, right here and here. Obviously the photo below is one she took of me, the one after that is the one I took of her.

What a FUN day! We'll have to do it again sometime. I'll post photos of our other goodies at a later date. Have a very Happy Easter

new dress and knickers for Easter

I just finished sewing these today (barely in time for Easter). I sewed them useing 25 cent vintage patterns I found at the thrift store. The dress is made from a Swiss dot vintage fabric my grandmother gave me. The fabric I made the knickers out of was an old pair of pants my husband had ripped beyond repair. I just LOVE how they turned out!

red color party theme

It was my older brothers birthday on Monday so My sister and I threw him a surprise party. We made the party hats and the paper bag starburst with what I had laying around the craft room. We had angel food cake and strawberries with home made whipped cream! Then we went to the movies to see this , and then did this as an added bonus! Basically it was a super fun day!
