origami boxes with wallpaper?

boxes
No really, I folded these boxes out of old wallpaper I got at the thrift store! Want to make these too? Check out my tutorial video here.
boxes
Since I used the entire width of the roll these boxes ended up pretty big.
I think they're about 8in x 8in.

boxes
I originally bought the wallpaper to be wrapping paper. I was staring at the roll wishing I had boxes to wrap and that's when I realized that the wallpaper was thick enough to make origami boxes! {Bonus! These wallpaper rolls come with way more paper than wrapping paper rolls do!}
boxes
I put little dividers inside to separate the chocolate nest treats I made for Easter. Maybe I'll put home made peeps in another box. You could use these boxes for cupcakes as well since they're tall enough. The possibilities are endless really.

As you can see from all the photos, I had a lot of fun decorating them too. I think I am in love with packaging and wrapping! (And, I'm more than a little obsessed with origami boxes!)

Happy Easter everyone!

DIY recycled rosette: girls hooded jacket

rose jacket
rose jacket
To make the rosettes on this hoodie I used the same technique as I did on my cardigan. The sweater was a hand-me-down from cousins an it came with a matching skirt. I cut up the skirt to make the rosettes. I also used the sewing machine to sew leaves on before attaching the roses.

eggs

If your hens start laying 8 new eggs a day, and you can't think what to do with them, make crepes!crepes
Lots and lots of crepes!

Then stuff them full of scrambled eggs, sausage, and maple syrup. Yummmm!crepes
What a great week to have too many eggs. Our Easter baskets will be full of eggs!

a typical day in my home school preschool

electricity on the chalk board
At our house we are doing home school preschool, this week's letter is E. We learned the sounds it makes and how to write it; and today we learned about electricity because that starts with E! One of the things we did that I don't have photos of was the demonstration of a static balloon lighting up a florescent light bulb. The kids loved that!

e is for electricity

drawing electricity

Above: my daughter drew a picture of electric wires and how we should never touch them. If you look hard you can see other pictures she drew about lightning and not touching outlets. Safety was a big part of this lesson as well as how some things are powered by electricity.

eating electricity

We even ate lightning shaped lunch!

Above: my son is coloring a worksheet I made.
If you want to use it too, go ahead!

cupcakes in boxes

There are a lot of newborns in our neighborhood this month. I thought it appropriate to congratulate the mothers with mini cupcakes! The frosting is home made chocolate ganache! Yum!!
